Meet Dr. Aura Marcela Torres
Dr. Aura Marcela Torres is proud to have been serving Santa Cruz, Capitola, Scotts Valley, Soquel, and neighboring communities for years.
Born in Villavicencio, Colombia, Dr. Torres pursued her passion for dentistry early in life, inspired by her grandfather and other family members in the medical field. She graduated with honors in Dental Medicine from San Martin University in Bogotá in 1988. After moving to the United States in 1990, she continued her studies in general and restorative dentistry and earned her California dental license in 1994. Dr. Torres gained valuable experience working with a pediatric dentistry specialist and later directed the University of California Santa Cruz Dental Clinic for five years. She maintains active professional memberships with the American Dental Association (ADA), California Dental Association (CDA), and the Monterey Bay Dental Society (MBDS).
At her practice, Dr. Torres combines professional excellence with a personal, caring approach. She and her husband, Guido Diaz, who manages the business side of the practice, are committed to giving back to the community. They frequently travel to Mexico for charitable dental work and have a legacy of donating dental equipment to organizations both in the U.S. and abroad.
Family is at the heart of Dr. Torres’s life. She and Guido are proud parents of three children—Nicole, Natalie, and Nohora—who share their passion for helping others. This deep sense of personal connection extends to her patients, creating a warm and welcoming environment where everyone feels like part of the dental family.
For Dr. Torres, dentistry is not just a profession—it’s a calling. She finds fulfillment in relieving pain, restoring smiles, and improving patients’ quality of life, always prioritizing their comfort and well-being. Many of her patients, including seniors, students, and families, come through referrals, a testament to the trust and satisfaction she has built over the years.
